Honouring the Japanese art of kintsugi, Broken Things combines photography of discarded ceramic objects with delicate stitching in gold thread.

This mixed-media artwork from Livia Marin’s Broken Things series touches on themes such as imperfection, waste and consumerism. Each edition from the series features a giclée image that is torn then repaired by stitching the pieces back together with gold thread. The hand-stitching process references the ancient Japanese art of restoring ceramic using gold lacquer. The artworks are mounted in ash frames containing low-reflection glass.
