Alia is a contemporary stool carved from American oak charred using a Japanese technique called Shou Sugi Ban.
The Alia stool is carved from American oak and treated using a Japanese charring technique called Shou Sugi Ban. This ancient process makes the wood waterproof and also insect-resistant. Topped by a circular seat, the stool's fluted cylindrical base is clad with matching batons that create a pleasing texture and rigorous geometry.
