Zoë Wilson
Over many years, I have accumulated a broad range of skills, all of which make up a unique dexterity for my craft. I find adding to those skills helps to keep me inspired and excited by what I do.
Following a degree in fine art, Zoë completed a Historic Stone Carving Certificate at the City and Guilds of London Art School, supported by a Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) scholarship.
Committed to preserving the age-old craft of stone carving, Zoë produces contemporary works that bridge the gap into art. She begins each piece by scoring complex geometric patterns onto the surface of the stone, offering a guide for the development of clear, concise carving. She uses a traditional mallet and chisel, leaving marks in the surface that show the presence of the maker. Each stone sculpture is developed in sections and emerges in the round. Passionate about British stone, Zoë's works are often realised in Welsh slate, Portland stone and Scottish sandstone.
