Luca Gruber

My work is intended as a physical ode to the craftmen's labour and to the subtle qualities of matter subject to human action.

Luca’s work merges advanced manufacturing with traditional craft. After earning his Master’s from ECAL, he trained under Ini Archibong and Bodo Sperlein before founding his studio in 2022. His creations, spanning lighting, furniture, and collectibles, draw on myth, ritual, and the ceremonial role of design. Collaborating with workshops like Carl Auböck and J. & L. Lobmeyr, he explores transformation through glass, wood, and metal, valuing precision and presence.

At the centre of Luca’s practice is a belief in the sacral quality of objects. His designs honour the unseen labour of makers and resist mass consumption by prioritising longevity, beauty and material truth. In 2023, his Anicca Vanitas collection was produced in Vienna by Carl Auböck V; the OZ collection with Lobmeyr explored circularity through glass shards from overproduction. Luca’s work has been exhibited at Milan, Paris, and Vienna Design Weeks, and he continues to shape a quietly contemplative language of luxury, one rooted in integrity, emotion and enduring relevance.
