Ames Living
Every single product expresses the personality of their makers and honours a different facet of Colombia's traditional techniques.
Ames was founded in 2006 by Colombian-born Germany-based Ana Maria Calderón Kayser. Born out of a deep love for her country and a desire to keep its craft traditions alive while also creating jobs with fair wages, Ames has produced collections with celebrated designers such as Sebastian Herkner, Cristina Celestino, Mae Engelgeer and Pauline Deltour.
Inspired by Colombia’s beautiful landscapes, colours and textures, Ames' collections are developed and made in partnership with Colombian craftspeople working in small, family-owned ateliers. Its collections come to life through a creative process that stretches over several months and involves an intense dialogue between Ana Maria, the designer and the production teams in Colombia. Materials used – which include fique fibres, iraca palm leaves, werregue grass and recycled plastic – are chosen according to what is available locally.
