I am inspired by biological narratives that I then distort and abstract using simplified and fluid forms.

After pursuing a degree in Biochemistry and completing a Ph.D. at UCL, Abid created his first collection titled Pleomorphs during the initial global lockdown in 2020. He also explored art & design during his high school and college years while working on his doctoral studies. Later on, he discovered ceramics as a creative hobby.

Abid's handcrafted sculptures embody biological narratives via a harmonious interplay of shape and materiality. Employing pinch, coiling, and slab techniques with diverse clays, each piece effortlessly blends form, colour, texture, and space, with some clear-glazed or sealed for water resistance, while the majority remain unglazed. His sculptural pieces push the boundaries of clay, delving into the integration of ceramics with materials like paper, metal, and wax to explore their properties and potential synergies.
