Volta
I love natural materials, to sublimate them and the challenge that implies.
Agathe Lavaud studied at ESAG Penninghen and ENSA Marne-la-Vallée, with a semester in Italy, and trained at leading studios including Renzo Piano Building Workshop. She founded Volta in 2016, blending architectural rigor with interior sensitivity. After six years, the studio introduced its first furniture collection, Meï, showcasing its focus on materiality and form.
Volta’s work is driven by a material-first philosophy. The Meï collection centers on cork, an often-overlooked material elevated here through refined compression techniques, custom pigmentation, and pairings with velvet and ceramic. Designed in collaboration with Trizzano workshops, the collection consists of eight sculptural pieces defined by radical simplicity and an architectural clarity that honors each material’s inherent qualities. Through furniture and interiors alike, Volta pursues timeless elegance rooted in sustainable thinking and artisanal technique.
