Studio Lampent

Greek autodidact light artist and designer

Gothenburg, Sweden

Lampent is the conjunction of lamp and lambent. Two words that define the Gothenburg-based lighting and art studio’s main goal: to explore the boundless opportunities of light through exclusive, illuminating pieces.

Studio Lampent

Placing light at the heart of development sparks the creative transition from form to function. The interplay of tangible geometry and fragility of light creates a sense of imbalance, inviting viewers into a mesmerising experience that challenges visual perception'.

Stavros Kotsakis acquired a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Technical University of Crete and a second MA in Quality Management from Chalmers University, Sweden. Founded in 2011, Studio Lampent was awarded Young Swedish Design in 2021. Kotsakis’ designs have been showcased worldwide and featured in renowned design events such as Slovenia's Month of Design, Copenhagen's 3daysofdesign, and Stockholm Design Week.

Captivating kinetic sculptures, oscillating light forms and geometric abstraction take centre stage in the studio’s series of handcrafted lighting – which place great emphasis on sustainability and simplicity. The one-off atmospheric additions are designed to capture the viewer’s attention, creating a mesmerising visual experience while changing observation angles. Acrylic sheets, LED lights and warm oak materials are favoured to radiate warmth, softly diffuse light and create an overall inviting ambience.
