British ceramic artist Rachel Peters creates biomorphic sculptures that explore the physicality of clay. Hand-built through coiling, each form evolves naturally, embracing raw texture, soft curves, and a muted, earthy palette.

Rachel Peters Ceramics

"I’m inspired by the balance between structure and fluidity, strength and softness. My work explores these contrasts, creating forms that invite interaction - familiar yet abstract, grounded in clay’s rawness and its response to touch."

Rachel’s journey into ceramics was unplanned. Following a career in Social Work and time spent in South Africa, she rediscovered creativity through clay. What began as a pottery class evolved into a purposeful practice - a way to slow down, explore, and create with intention. Her work is rooted in the physical nature of clay: its raw texture, responsiveness, and grounding presence. Each piece begins as a sketch but shifts organically through hand-building, allowing the form to emerge naturally through coiling.

Inspired by Danish design, Rachel favours clean lines, organic shapes, and minimal surface decoration. Working primarily with grogged stoneware, she embraces natural textures and subtle imperfections. Her sculptures, often referencing human figures or organic forms, reflect strength and resilience - especially through abstract female forms. Each work invites viewers to pause and connect, holding presence within a space. Rachel is a selected member of the Craft Potters Association, Design Nation, and Find a Maker.
