From Italy we weave relationships on a global scale in search of new visions and new languages; to bring prestigious furnishing solutions to homes all over the world.
Portego was founded in 2015 by designers Flavia Testi and Stefano Rossi in the Veneto region of northeast Italy. The name Portego, meaning “porch” in the Venetian dialect, nods to the studio’s geographical roots while also expressing its founders’ love of traditions that are peculiar to individual places.
Portego pairs skilled Italian artisans, including stonemasons and woodworkers, with international design studios to produce experimental furniture and rug designs. Its products are the result of an exchange of time-honoured skills with new ideas. Each Portego piece is designed around the pillars of quality, humanity and beauty and built on the bedrock of careful research into contemporary lifestyle trends. By working with individual craftspeople in small ateliers and workshops, the studio is able to nimbly produce custom pieces.
