Nicola Cecutti

Lighting Designer

London, UK

London-based lighting designer Nicola Cecutti uses found objects and industrial building materials to make sculptural and intriguingly textured lamps. His playful pieces often resemble organic forms such as sprouting plants, oneiric figures or ancient stones weathered by erosion and decay.

Nicola Cecutti

I make objects to populate a dreamy, fantasy world where every lamp has a personality.

Nicola studied fashion design at Istituto Marangoni Milano. He began making lamps in his native Italy and continued after moving to the UK, where he was able to give complete focus to developing his craft during the pandemic. Today his work is carried by SEEDS Gallery in London and has been shown at exhibitions in the UK and Germany.

Nicola's making process is a result of constant exploration and experimentation. The mixed media he works with includes objects he finds on the street, ranging from discarded packaging to disposed industrial building material mixed with foam, PVA, pigments, sand and spray paint. The materials are assembled to create one-of-a-kind lamps with colourful textured surfaces that strongly evoke the natural world.
