Meseme
Lighting, for me, means more than just illumination. It allows me to create objects of beauty that can be admired and touched and yet be useful and illuminate a space. I seek to create mesmerising and evocative products that elevate spaces through their use of colour, material and form.
Riya was born and raised in India and is now based in London. She holds a master’s degree in product and furniture design from Kingston School of Art in London and gained experience working with lighting brands before founding Meseme Studio in 2021.
Meseme’s lighting products and accessories are designed and produced at Riya’s studio at Blackhorse Workshop in London. She collaborates with specialist craftspeople who translate her creative vision into elegant objects for everyday use. With an emphasis on premium materials, exquisite craftsmanship, and durability, her iconic designs are as functional as they are artful. Her statement pieces represent a modern take on classic forms, combining metal and glass to create sleek, minimal products that complement all sorts of interior schemes.
