Lotus Arts de Vivre
Our respect for ancient cultures is driven by the fact our cultural heritage is disappearing. While we cannot fight progress, it is essential we preserve the knowledge of traditional crafts.
Rolf and Helen von Bueren founded Lotus Arts de Vivre nearly four decades ago. Their sons, Sri and Nicki, who have since taken the reins, continue to produce curiosities worth collecting and managing a secondary market with auction houses and online platforms.
Thailand has many crafts that are preserved by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit in a unique organisation called Silapacheep. Lotus Arts de Vivre champions this work, directly engaging master makers in the design process. The team frequently travels throughout Thailand and the rest of Asia in search of the originators or masters of a craft, such as India for gem-cutting, Indonesia for wood carving, Thailand for Niello work, Japan for Makie Lacquer and China for Cinnabar Lacquer. This way of working has resulted in long-lasting relationships with some of the most highly skilled craftspeople alive today.
