Designer Lisette Rützou is motivated by an urge to articulate a story. Her distinctive furniture, lighting and homeware designs are influenced by the beauty of materials, as well as by architectural forms. A master of marble, Lisette creates timeless pieces that combine functionality with a feminine touch.

I hope to create a reaction with my designs; a feeling beyond beauty and fine lines. To me, designing is personal. Colour, movement, sound and scale craft a universal language that speaks to the viewer.

Lisette began her career in 1998 and was a partner in a large Danish design company for 16 years, prior to starting her own business. Her work is produced in collaboration with highly skilled craftspeople in Italy and Denmark.

Respectful of the resources she uses, Lisette aims to explore opportunities within each material and create products that will be cherished for generations. A love of contrast and natural materials is deeply embedded in each of her sculptural designs, which are crafted from materials such as onyx, marble and steel. The onyx stone represents spirituality and humbleness, whereas marble is a cultural symbol of tradition and a strong reference to Lisette’s great architectural inspiration, columns.
