Johannes Hemann

Nature profoundly inspires my work as I live amidst the forest, surrounded by the growth of trees and natural beauty. I find fulfillment in exploring new production processes and crafting fascinating pieces through hands-on engagement with materials.

Johannes founded his studio in 2011 after studying product design in Offenbach am Main, Germany, and completing a semester at Kingston University in London. In 2012, he was nominated as the Young Designer of the Year and as the Design Newcomer of the Year in Germany, for both 2010 and 2011.

Through experimental practice and exceptional craftsmanship, Johannes has developed innovative manufacturing processes that give form to his pieces, each telling its own unique story. Working with wood, metal, and plastic, he meticulously explores variations in his production methods to craft refined furniture and lighting designs. Employing techniques like the inventive storm box in the Storm series, wood fibre pressing moulds in the Pressed Wood series, and skillfully transforming small pieces into large products in the Core series, his work is ever-evolving, driven by curiosity and a sense of enjoyment.
