Granite and Smoke
We design joyful luxury with a conscience. We don’t have all the answers but love the learning process.
Granite & Smoke was founded by Lindsey Hesketh and Claire Canning in 2019. Their practice draws on their multi-disciplinary skills and backgrounds; Lindsey's in architecture and Claire's in interiors and textiles. The studio's name references their respective homes in Aberdeen – nicknamed the Granite City – and London, also known as the Big Smoke.
The studio's luxury throws and cushions are made from premium sustainable yarns, including ethically sourced cashmere, merino wool and recycled lambswool. Each design is woven on a Jacquard loom in Scotland or England and hand finished by local specialists to the highest possible standards. Granite & Smoke works with partners committed to supporting local supply chains and prioritising communities and worker well-being. In addition, it limits its waste by weaving short runs and collecting all excess fibres to transform into other products.
