Donatas Žukauskas

Imperfection as a way to create beauty.

Educated at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Donatas Žukauskas has developed a distinctive practice shaped by material experimentation and sculptural thinking. Centered on transforming recycled paper pulp into durable objects, his work blurs the boundaries between art and function. Guided by the idea of "Third Tree Life," discarded paper is reimagined as furniture, lighting, and decorative pieces, where textures, fissures, and natural irregularities become defining aesthetic features. The result is a collection that balances permanence with organic expression.

For more than 15 years, Donatas Žukauskas has explored the intersection of sculpture, design, and craftsmanship through collectible furniture and interior objects. Central to his practice is a proprietary paper pulp-based composite developed through extensive experimentation. The material combines the visual weight of concrete with the texture and character of wood, allowing each piece to reveal organic cracks, irregularities, and surface variations that celebrate the beauty of imperfection.
