Ceramic Artist

London, UK

CEE Ceramics’ founder Cecilia Trollby enjoyed an instant connection with clay. Her Scandinavian roots are reflected in the use of muted tones and textures, inspired by the natural world. From votives to vessels, her work espouses minimalist chic.

CEE Ceramics

I love the sea, the desert, and the magic of nature. These environments, this experience, inspires my choice of materials, textures and forms.

Cecilia began working with ceramics in 2010 in Brooklyn, New York. From there she developed her skills, gaining experience in Seattle and London. In 2021 her work was showcased as part of Kingsgate Collective at the contemporary London craft fair Artefact 2021.

Throwing pots on the wheel, Cecilia has an intimate relationship with each ceramic work. She pinches, pushes and adds to the clay using hand building techniques such as coiling, to create pieces that are rich, tactile and organic. In some of her works she creates markings and adds decorative sections inspired by ancient African vessels. She varies between using stoneware, black clay and porcelain and experiments with different glazes, slips and engobes, often beginning the development of a new collection while working on a current one. Cecilia's work is ever-evolving, driven by curiosity and enjoyment.
