‘Our aim with BURGIO. is to create timeless design objects rooted in sustainability and material learning, seamlessly blending contemporary aesthetics with Italian heritage, we design pieces that resonate with the past while envisioning the future’.
Fashion design graduate, Isabella Burgio, refined her expertise in London before establishing a consultancy studio in Shanghai, where she serves as an artistic director for global fashion brands. Alireza Sadeh, pursued industrial design in Florence, then ventured into experiential and spatial design. In 2022, they joined forces, combining their skills to craft pieces that marry form and function.
Sustainability, functionality, and playful minimalism sit at BURGIO.’s core. Stoneware pieces are moulded and hand-finished; the distinctive elastic "memory" of the raw material requires careful handling to attain its intended shape. Marble designs, including Carrara, Arabescato, and Nero Marquina, are shaped using CNC machines and then left with human hands to guarantee a seamless appearance, as each design originates from a single marble block. Keep an eye out for the reversible coffee table, available in five different marble stones and the whimsical FUUUUSILLO side table, inspired by the duo's favourite pasta shape.
