Art Attaichi
I don’t see tradition and contemporary as opposites. Tradition is simply time that has settled. Contemporary is time that is unfolding.
Thakor’s architectural training established a foundation in scale, proportion and spatial logic, while her attention turned towards objects shaped by time and use. Art Attaichi grew from this interest in material memory and sculptural presence. Its Aarambh collection was presented at SaloneSatellite in 2023, bringing the studio’s work to an international design audience.
The studio works with brass, wood, marble and stone, allowing the character of each material to guide the form. Thakor begins with intuition, sometimes a memory or observed detail, sometimes the material itself, then sketches, builds and studies the object as it develops. Hammering, patination and layered surface treatments introduce variation and record the hand of the maker. The resulting pieces balance architectural restraint with ornament, moving between functional furniture and objects conceived primarily for their sculptural presence.
